Hello everyone! My name is Kayn, and I am another recent addition to the 7C Lingo Team. I mainly help to manage our translation projects, which is honestly a dream job for me. See, the thing is, translation and I go way back. Let me explain…
When I was just an elementary school student, living in rural Bad Axe, Michigan, I set a lofty goal for myself: I was going to learn Japanese. Fourteen years later I’m studying for the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) N1, which is the most advanced level. Pretty cool right? “But wait,” you say, “I thought we were talking about translation.” We are, we are. I just wanted to set the stage a bit first.
So I’m a little kid, living in the middle of cornfields and dairy farms, with limited dial-up internet… how am I supposed to teach myself this language? Simple! I found songs I liked and printed out the lyrics and fanmade translations. For hours I would sit with a dictionary, desperately trying to piece together the puzzle of how these translators got from point A to point B.
As I grew, so did my interest and passion for the translation! I translated in my spare time, took courses on it in college, and now here I am, getting to help people connect across languages every day! See, that’s what translation is all about: connecting with one another. Whether it’s an award-winning novel, instructions for your new television, a birth certificate, or a blog post, when you translate something, you are allowing it to be shared with a larger audience. That’s why we at 7C Lingo pride ourselves in making sure you are able to connect how you want to. Every translation project is important to us.
Through my blogs, I hope to introduce you to the world of translation. From what goes on behind the scenes to fun-facts about the many languages of our wonderful planet. Let’s embark on this journey together!
